THE REVERB COLLECTION

The heart pine used in these sculptures has already lived many lives. Reclaimed from the historic Tourister factory in Rhode Island, it began with trees that grew slowly over time, season by season, their years held in dense grain and growth rings. Later shaped into an architectural structure, the wood carries traces of both the natural world and the human hands that gave it purpose.

I think of these sculptures as a way of continuing that story. Rather than imposing a form upon the wood, I work in conversation with what is already there—following its lines, planes, imperfections, and grain. Paint becomes another layer in its history, responding to the rhythm held within the material: tempo in the growth rings, melody in the curves, harmony where planes meet.

There is something deeply moving to me about honoring a material that took so long to become what it is. These trees grew without urgency. Their history cannot be recreated or rushed. The Reverb Collection carries that sense of time forward, allowing the past to reverberate through a new form and giving the material another life beyond the one it has already known.

Several sculptures from The Reverb Collection are available through Atelier Modern in Larchmont. Purchase inquiries may be sent to rebecca@innerworkingart.com. Custom colorways are available upon request.
